We are seeking a Category Manager to strengthen our healthcare supply chain and create real impact across our system. This role goes far beyond purchasing — you will be responsible for setting category strategies, leading sourcing initiatives, and collaborating with clinical and operational leaders to deliver both cost savings and improved outcomes. The right candidate will combine business savvy with healthcare awareness, ensuring that every contract and supplier relationship supports the mission of delivering high-quality, efficient patient care.
Strategic Category Leadership
Build and execute category plans for supplies, services, pharmaceuticals, and capital purchases, representing hundreds of millions in annual spend.
Shape multi-year roadmaps for vendor consolidation, product standardization, and cost optimization.
Use data analysis, benchmarking, and forecasting to highlight opportunities and guide executive decisions.
Major Projects & Initiatives
Lead sourcing events and RFPs, from requirements gathering through supplier selection and award.
Partner with Value Analysis Committees to evaluate new technologies and products based on safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness.
Launch initiatives to reduce waste, improve utilization, and align purchases with clinical protocols.
Support system-wide projects such as ERP upgrades, e-procurement rollouts, and supply chain analytics dashboard development.
Supplier & Contract Management
Negotiate contracts that balance financial performance with quality standards and regulatory compliance.
Establish supplier scorecards to track performance on cost, service, quality, and delivery metrics.
Develop contingency strategies to secure critical products during shortages or supply disruptions.
Promote supplier diversity and ensure adherence to all federal and state healthcare requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the link between finance, legal, IT, risk, and frontline clinical teams.
Facilitate decision-making that balances operational needs with long-term financial health.
Guide service line leaders in aligning budgets with system-wide sourcing strategies.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in business, supply chain, or healthcare field preferred.
5+ years of progressive experience in healthcare supply chain, procurement, or strategic sourcing.
Familiarity with clinical workflows, medical-surgical supplies, or pharmaceutical categories highly desirable.
Strong track record in negotiation, contract management, and project leadership.
Skilled in data-driven analysis, cost-benefit modeling, and scenario planning.
Comfortable leading discussions with executives, clinicians, and staff alike.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn new procurement technologies.
