Description:Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control is seeking a Summer 2026 Intern Mechanical Engineer (Design). In this role, you will provide design and analysis support for tasks that will include electrical and mechanical design principles, troubleshooting systems, specifying/procuring/organizing build materials, and collecting test data to share with the design team. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of a proven ability to apply theoretical knowledge through hands-on projects, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of fundamental concepts in system optimization and mechanical design.

The selected candidate must be a US Citizen. This position will require a government security clearance.

Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or similar majors with a strong academic record.

Completed coursework or experience in physics, computational methods, and/or mechanical design principles.

Proficiency in MATLAB, 3D CAD, or other design and simulation tools.

Experience with hands-on engineering projects, such as designing and building mechanical systems or devices.

Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance.
Desired Skills:
Familiarity with system optimization and mechanical design principles with experience with data analysis, visualization, and simulation tools.

Strong understanding of fundamental concepts in physics, mechanics, and thermodynamics.

Familiarity with Geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T).
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
