Akkodis is seeking a Network Security Consultant for a Contract with a client in Raleigh, NC. You will design and optimize Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) solutions while developing and fine-tuning Snort and Suricata rules to strengthen network security.
Rate Range: $56/hour to $64/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Network Security Consultant job responsibilities include:
Design, implement, and optimize Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) solutions to ensure robust network security across enterprise environments.
Develop, update, and fine-tune Snort and Suricata intrusion detection/prevention rules to detect and mitigate threats effectively.
Perform security assessments and vulnerability analysis to identify risks and recommend remediation strategies.
Collaborate with network and security teams to integrate NGFW policies with broader security architecture and compliance requirements.
Monitor and analyze network traffic and security logs to proactively identify anomalies and potential breaches.
Provide expert guidance and documentation on firewall configurations, IDS/IPS tuning, and best practices for secure network operations.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field (master’s preferred).
Minimum 5+ years in network security with hands-on NGFW design and operations experience.
Proven expertise in Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW) design, configuration, and optimization.
Strong experience in developing and fine-tuning Snort and Suricata rules for IDS/IPS systems.
