Job Description

We are partnered with a well-established public accounting firm in Manhattan who are looking for a Staff Accountant to join their growing tax practice. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in public accounting or CPA firms, with exposure to client management, payroll processing, sales tax compliance, business licenses and permits, month-end close procedures, and financial statement preparation. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and adaptability are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

• Manage client relationships and serve as primary point of contact for accounting matters
• Process payroll, sales tax filings, and business licenses and permits
• Perform month-end close procedures and prepare financial statements
• Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to clients
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
• Collaborate with team members to meet client deadlines and deliverables

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in public accounting required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), QuickBooks, and Sage 50
• Experience with payroll processing, sales tax, licenses and permits preferred
• Experience in month-end close and financial statement preparation
• CPA candidate or pursuing CPA licensure preferred
• Italian language skills a plus
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities

$65,000 - $70,000 DOE
